Marc Mertz, MHA, FACMPE

Mr. Mertz is a vice president with GE Healthcare Camden Group and has 18 years of healthcare management experience. He has 15 years of experience in medical group development and management, physician-hospital alignment strategies, physician practice operational improvement, practice mergers and acquisitions, medical group governance and organizational design, clinical integration, and physician compensation plan design. Mr. Mertz has managed private practices, hospital-affiliated practices, and academic physician practices. The Medical Group Management Association (“MGMA”) has identified practices under his management as “Best Performing.”

In addition to his physician practice expertise, Mr. Mertz led the development of a hospital customer relationship management system (“CRM”) that assists hospitals with optimizing physician relationships. His articles regarding physician/hospital alignment, medical group operations, methods for enhancing reimbursement, clinical integration strategies, physician compensation plan development, and patient satisfaction have appeared in MGMA’s Connexion, Health Financial Management, American Medical Group Association’s Group Practice JournalJournal of Medical Practice Management, Family Practice Management, Hospital & Health Network Daily, and other leading journals. Mr. Mertz is frequently invited to speak at regional and national healthcare conferences, and has been quoted in MGMA’s Connexion, Community Oncology, and other publications.

Prior to joining GE Healthcare Camden Group, Mr. Mertz was president of Health Check Incorporated, a national managed care auditing firm based in Florida. His previous positions include leading Med-Track, a physician relations software firm, and serving as vice president with The Horizon Group, a national healthcare consulting firm. He is a fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives.

Mr. Mertz received his bachelor’s degree from James Madison University in health services administration, and his master of health administration degree from the University of Southern California.
